Essential Oils & Fragrance

Have you ever experienced a fragrance that invoked an emotion or memory from childhood? Fragrance is a very important part of our lives. Research has shown that when people are exposed to certain odors there is a measurable response to our physical state. The importance of fragrance should not be underestimated. Think about when you clean your home, the smell of the disinfectant makes you think you have killed all the microbes. Smell is very important to the way people think about a product.

Fragrance has always been a major part of our society dating back to the Egyptians. The development of organic chemistry in the late nineteenth century changed the industry in how perfume is created and used. Now natural fragrances can be duplicated in the lab for the fraction of the price as natural ingredients. Not to mention thousands of synthetic fragrances have been developed. Perfumes can contain more than 100 ingredients and most of these fragrances are known to have irritant, harmful, or toxic properties. Most adverse reactions to skin care products & cosmetics are usually linked fragrance chemicals. Evidence in peer-reviewed journals shows that some fragrances can cause asthmatic reactions even when the participants could not actually smell the fragrances.
No Regulations placed on the perfume industry
Secrecy and intrigue have always been a part of the fragrance industry. Fragrances can't be patented so the formulas are closely guarded because the business is so competitive. Because of this companies are not required to list their ingredients on the product. There are an estimated 3-5 thousand fragrance ingredients available, many from petroleum products, and 84 percent of the synthetic ingredients used have never been tested for safety.

Keeping your fragrances natural
There are manufactures that pay attention to consumer health concerns. These natural fragrances and colognes are simple scents that are based on natural alcohols and essential oils. Essential oils have been used for thousands of years and contain a harmonious blend of natural constituents. Essential oils should be diluted in a carrier oil such as jojoba oil or almond oil, this helps to keep cost down for the manufacturer. Also highly concentrated essential oils can irritate the skin if applied directly. Here at BTrue Naturals we are dedicated to finding companies that work to keep their fragrances and perfumes as pure and natural as possible.
